Cloud Phone Systems
Our hosted voice system replaces traditional land lines by storing your data on a secure server in our data center, which digitally transmits the voice signal to another phone or device via the Internet. A cloud phone system replaces traditional land lines, eliminating closets full of wires and the need for regular, onsite maintenance. Because data is stored digitally, our cloud voice system is generally more cost effective.
We offer two variations of our cloud phone system. The first is a fully Hosted PBX system in which all voice activity runs through the PBX switch in our data center. This set up is idea for businesses with good connectivity and newer wiring. We provide you a contemporary, physical phone system (and replace them at end-of-life for no additional cost), centrally configure your phone systems, and do regular upgrades over the cloud, all for one monthly rate.
The second variation is Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) trunking in which the PBX device is located onsite at your business. This option is suited for businesses that want to own their physical phone system or may not have the connectivity or building wiring suited to the fully hosted solution. With SIP trunking, the business is responsible for maintaining and upgrading their phones.
Traditional Land Lines
Traditional telephone lines, otherwise known as the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), may be called for in scenarios where your business lacks sufficient wiring for a hosted phone system or the connectivity available to your location won’t support the bandwidth needed for a strong connection quality.
We offer two types land lines. The first is Primary Rate Interface (PRI), which is a digital circuit that carries up to 23 concurrent phone calls. PRI runs over both T1 and copper cable and comes with Direct Inward Dials (DIDs), a term that means calls can go directly to a specific extension, department or fax machine. With PRI, you buy and upgrade your own physical phone system. As you approach full use of the 23 lines, you can add another PRI or consider moving to a hosted system.
The second option is Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) lines. As the name implies, this analog system is the oldest type of phone system available. Pairs of copper lines plug into outlets in your building, and voice data is sent over a circuit into one of our data centers, where it is distributed out to the intended recipients. Besides the technology considerations, POTS lines are generally suited for offices with 8 or fewer people. Once again, you invest in and support your own physical phone system with POTS.
Whether you purchase a phone system outright or receive a system in conjunction with our Hosted PBX service, Digital West has a variety of hardware to choose from. Ask us which is the right choice for your business.
